The Knotty Haches originated in 2018, by making small items for local friends and family such as scrabble tiles and custom Oven covers and other home décor items. The response from our products on social media was one that made us believe our products could grow as our knowledge of woodworking and custom items grew
By 2020 our company was still growing in orders, One of the that The knotty Haches had visions that we had was incorporating epoxy into our work, we were approached by a client to make a epoxy crater end table. and posted it on social media …. the response from this was overwhelming, one comment on the post said ” you know what ? you should really make one of Lake Simcoe!!” ( a well known lake located in southern Ontario and very close to our location ) the idea was one that was a great one, so we decided to make one.
The Wood was cut, stained, and sealed. and the cut out of the lake was done. we poured a beautiful layer of blue mica powered epoxy. we were so impressed that we snapped a picture and decided to post it on social media…. 2 hours later, we had 4 orders for these amazing pieces. At that moment, we realized that incorporating the epoxy into our wood working was one we wanted to continue with.
Another love that The Knotty Haches envisioned was the use of a CNC, this computer guided router system is able to create absolutley amazing wood carvings that brings our wood working and creativity levels to a whole new level, So with the funds raised from the first Lake Simcoe pieces, we were able to purchase a Longmill CNC system
Once we acquired the CNC, one of the first pieces The Knotty Haches wanted to make was a Hockey Arena Cribbage board. This Cribbage board was one that set the precedence that The Knotty Haches quality will be.
Posted on a social media site, the Cribbage board has received almost 100,000 views and we have created more then 100 Custom Cribbage boards for clients across southern Ontario
Epoxy tables was the next venture The Knotty Haches wanted to take on. in seeing so many of the amazing pieces being on social media platforms. we decided to take on a order for our first Epoxy table
These magnificent pieces are made to withstand the test of time, and will be a family heirloom for years to come.
In 2021, it was decided that this company is in need of a full time position, the time had coincided with being laid off from the day job. the struggle with starting up a small business has been one which we battled for a year, but with consistent amazing orders being made for our clients, the work and orders have not stopped.
